महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण सेना के संदिग्ध कार्यकर्ताओं ने मंगलवार को मुंबई यूनिवर्सिटी के कार्यालय
पर हमला किया। पुलिस ने इसकी जानकारी दी है। असिस्टंट पुलिस कमिश्नर के. वेंकटेशन ने बताया, कि कुछ लोगों का एक समूह दक्षिण मुंबई स्थित यूनिवर्सिटी के कार्यालय में जबरन घुस आया और खिड़कियों के शीशे तोड़ दिए। ऐसा लगता है जैसे वह महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण सेना के कार्यकर्ता थे। उन्होंने कहा कि पुलिस को स्थिति को नियंत्रित करने के लिए मौके पर भेज दिया गया है और जांच जारी है। इस हमले के पीछे के कारणों का पता नहीं चल पाया है।

राज्य के ऊर्जा राज्यमंत्री सुनील तटकरे ने आश्वासन दिया है कि सरकार आगामी मार्च एवं अप्रैल में स्कूल व कॉलिज की परीक्षाओं को देखते हुए बिजली की लोड शेडिंग को खत्म करने की दिशा में कोशिश कर रही है। सूत्रों के मुताबिक राज्य के ग्रामीण भागों में किसानों को कम से कम 8 घंटे बिजली जरूर मिलेगी। ठाणे मनपा एवं एक्ले एशिया के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में होटल टीप-टाप प्लाजा में आयोजित दो दिवसीय 'ऊर्जा कार्य क्षमता एवं अपारंपरिक ऊर्जा के उपयोग' विषय पर सेमिनार में ऊजां मंत्री तटकरे प्रमुख अतिथि के रूप में मौजूद थे। सेमिनार में तटकरे ने कहा कि राज्य में बिजली के गंभीर संकट के चलते तमाम विकास कार्य अधर में पड़ गये हैं। तटकरे के अनुसार राज्य में चार से पांच हजार मेगावॉट बिजली की कमी होने से लोडशेडिंग बढ़ गई है और बिजली की यह कमी राज्य सरकार के लिए एक चुनौती है। तटकरे ने पत्रकारों से बातचीत में विद्यार्थियों के दिलासा देते हुए कहा कि आगामी परीक्षा काल में राज्य सरकार की ओर से यह कोशिश की जायेगी कि उस समय बिजली की लोड शेडिंग न हो। ब्रिटिश हाई कमीशन की ओर से आयोजित सेमिनार में ठाणे की महापौर स्मिता इंदुलकर, दिल्ली की महापौर आसी मेहरा, मनपा आयुक्त नंदकुमार जंत्रे, ब्रिटिश हाई कमीशन स्पेंर्न्स व सांसद आनंद परांजपे ने भी वहां उपस्थित लोगों को ऊर्जा बचत व पारंपरिक ऊर्जा के उपयोग के महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला।

बीएमसी ने सफाई का संदेश देने के लिए स्टार क्रिकेटर सचिन तेंदुलकर पर छोटी फिल्म बनाने का फैसला किया है, जिसमें यह मास्टर बल्लेबाज लोगों को सफाई की महत्ता समझाएंगे। बीएमसी ने इस फिल्म के लिए स्मिता तलवालकर की कंपनी अस्मिता चित्रा को नियुक्त किया है। यह पहला मौका होगा जब सुपरस्टार क्रिकेटर सचिन किसी फिल्म में बतौर ऐक्टर नज़र आएंगे। इससे पहले मास्टर-ब्लास्टर बल्लेबाज़ कई ऐड फिल्मों में तो नज़र आए हैं, लेकिन किसी फिल्म में काम करने का यह उनका पहला तजुर्बा होगा। वृहद मुंबई नगर निगम (बीएमसी) के अफसरों ने कहा कि फिल्म में सफाई पर जोर दिया जाएगा, जिसमें नागरिकों को अपने आस पास का क्षेत्र साफ रखने की सलाह दी जाएगी।
इसमें शहर को साफ सुथरा रखने की महत्ता भी समझाई जाएगी। इस योजना पर 50 लाख रुपया खर्च होगा। गौरतलब है कि सचिन को पहले कई कमर्शल फिल्मों के भी ऑफर मिल चुके हैं, लेकिन सचिन ने क्रिकेट को सबसे ऊपर रखते हुए इनमें काम करने से मना कर दिया। मुंबई से सचिन का लगाव किसी से छिपा नहीं है। ऐसे में जब बात मुंबई महानगर की साफ-सफाई जैसे सामाजिक मुद्दे की आई, तो सचिन मना नहीं कर सके। सचिन ने तो अपने हिस्से का काम कर दिया, अब देखना यह है कि सचिन की अपील पर लोग कितना अमल करते हैं।

रविवार यानी मुम्बईकरों के लिए देर तक सोने और रिलैक्स करने का दिन। लेकिन इस रविवार लोग सूर्योदय के पहले ही शहर की एकता, अखंडता और शांति के लिए मैराथन दौड़ के लिए चले आए। जो दौड़ नहीं रहे थे, उन्होंने दर्शक बनकर अपनी तालियों की गूंज से दौड़ने वालों की ऊर्जा बढ़ाई। सीएसटी स्टेशन के बाहर, सुबह ठीक 6 बजकर 45 मिनट पर हाफ मैराथन से मुम्बई मैराथन की शुरुआत हुई और फिर एक के बाद एक फुल मैराथन, वील चेअर इवेंट, सीनियर सिटिजन रन और ड्रीम रन में हजारों लोगों ने हिस्सा लिया। ऐसे कम ही दिन होते हैं जब मुम्बई में हजारों लोग एक साथ सड़कों पर उतरते हैं और एक दूसरे का साथ देते हुए चलते हैं। फुल मैराथन और हाफ मैराथन जब शुरू हुआ तो संगीत और दर्शकों के 'भागो मुम्बई भागो' के नारे हवा में शंखनाद करते प्रतीत हुए, लेकिन मुम्बई के जिस उत्साह की बात हम प्राय: करते हैं वह तब सामने आया जब वील चेअर पर बैठे लोगों की मुस्कुराहट सीधे लोगों के दिलों तक पहुंची। भीड़ ने भी हर प्रतिभागी का तालियों की गड़गड़ाहट से स्वागत किया, चाहे वे दर्शक हों, सुरक्षाकर्मी हों या फिर मौके पर मौजूद सेलिब्रिटी। इनके पीछे-पीछे थी दिल से जवां लोगों की वह टोली, जिन्हें सीनियर सिटिजन रन कैटिगरी में जगह मिली थी। इनके सड़क पर उतरते ही सारा माहौल स्टाइल और मस्ती से भर गया। इनमें अधिकतर लोगों ने अपनी टोपी, छतरी आदि के जरिए आतंकवाद का कड़ा विरोध किया। उनके जोश को देखकर जॉन अब्राहम भी इनके पास आने से खुद को नहीं रोक सके। वील चेअर इवेंट के पहले सांसद प्रिया दत्त भी पहुंचीं। जिस समय हाफ रन और फुल मैराथन के धावक अपनी मंजिल का आधा सफर तय कर चुके थे, ठीक उसी वक्त नौ बजे के लगभग शुरू हुआ ड्रीम रन का सफर। ड्रीम रन की यह भीड़ रंगीन भीड़ कही जा सकती है। ट्रैक पैंट्स, हेड बैंड्स, गालों पर बना तिरंगा और हाथों में रंगीन पोस्टरों पर लिखे संदेश लेकर लोग सड़कों पर इसी दौड़ में उतरे।

The entire House seemed dissatisfied over the lack of the two basic civic amenities. Hanumant Jagdale, the leader of opposition in the TMC House alleged that the complaints of member corporators pertaining to erection of illegal buildings, lack of water supply and sanitation in public interest get cold shouldered by the civic officials. Jagdale felt that municipal commissioner Nandkumar Jantre was giving proper attention to the problems of the corporators whenever he was approached. "The TMC officers have, however declined to take the proposals of the corporators seriously even after being instructed by the commissioner," he claimed in the house meeting. Jagdale's claims were supported by members of the opposition, as well as members of the ruling alliance in the TMC house. ।

The 1,088 Higher Income Group (HIG) flats constructed by Maharashtra Housing Area and Development Authority (Mhada) at Versova will cost more as the authority wants to make up for the losses due to the delay, the burden of which it will pass on to the customers. The project has been ready for the last two years, but the sale was stayed by the court due to a litigation. Mhada had earlier planned to sell the flats for Rs 4,360 per sq ft, but may raise the prices up to Rs 5,000 per sq ft. The board plans to come up with advertisements for the sale of these flats by December. Mhada chairman Amarjit Manhas said, "MHADA has always earned a 25% profit from HIG flats. In this case, the SC has just lifted the stay on the sale of flats. We have lost a lot of money as our funds were locked up. We intend to pass on the losses to the buyers." The complex has 16 towers of 14 and 15 storeys and the costs have risen over Rs 150 crore.Said a senior official of Mhada, "We had acquired the Versova plot in 1964 for mass housing. During the same time, Oshiwara Land Development Corporation Pvt Ltd staked its claim on the land. When the matter reached the high court, it allowed Mhada to develop the land, however it also directed not to create any third party interest and accordingly an undertaking was taken from Mhada." "In 1997, the state cabinet decided to allot 50% of the disputed land to Apna Ghar co-operative housing society supported by Oshiwara Land Development Corporation. After a lot of correspondence and according to the directions of the government, consent terms were filed in the high court as action of the government," he added. Mhada started the construction of HIG flats in 2004 after seeking the opinion of the Advocate-General. The Oshiwara Land Development Corporation urged the high court to restrain Mhada from sale of flats. Following this, a stay was issued, the official said. Now, the matter has reached the SC and the stay has been lifted. Besides this, nearly 1,500 flats at Sion, Vikhroli, Malad, Ghatkopar, Dahisar, Goregaon, Malad and Borivli will also be sold by draws. "We will soon sell them by issuing lotteries. Most of them are meant for middle and higher income groups," said Manhas.
